Insanity defense rarely made sense to me except in rare cases like that Jared Loughner guy who killed a senator, he was legit fucking schizo and made no fucking sense, and I don't even remember what his verdict was. I've seen some people so out of it especially in the city on drugs but its usually not psychiatrist medication its usually fucked up street bullshit + schizophrenia and mental illness.

I haven't read too deep into this clancy case but it doesn't really sound like a true break from reality, just suicidal and projecting her feelings onto her kids like "they will feel what I'm feeling if I don't take them with me" it sounds like prob murder with muddier intentions and I do think if it was a father there would be less support and a jury would be less sympathetic
